Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy (PEMF) in Dallas
What is Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy?
Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) therapy devices emit electromagnetic waves at different frequencies in order to stimulate and encourage your body’s natural recovery process. NASA began using PEMF to help mitigate bone loss and muscle atrophy in astronauts. Since its incept, it has traditionally been used by orthopedic surgeons to help fractures and wounds heal and has gained popularity in recent years among scientists and clinicians as a way to treat acute and chronic pain with non-invasive procedures.
PEMF is different than other electromagnetic fields you encounter on a daily basis, such as those produced by microwaves, cell phones, and x-ray machines. According to research, frequency and duration are what differentiate beneficial electromagnetic fields, from potentially harmful ones. The waves created by PEMF devices occur in brief bursts and are very low-frequency, similar to those that occur in nature.
How does it work?
Your entire body is composed of cells. The membranes, or barriers, of healthy cells have positive and negative magnetic charges. These charges are required to exchange nutrients and waste products into and out of your cells. As your cells deteriorate with age or damage (like from injury or illness) they begin to lose their charge, and the ability to properly exchange nutrients. Symptoms like inflammation, fatigue, and pain are caused by damaged cells with low charges. The energy creates a small, brief electromagnetic field that is then safely induced into the user, and transmitted into unhealthy cells to regulate their charge.
What does it do for me?
PEMF therapy can be used to treat many aches, pains, and conditions including back pain, shoulder pain, arthritis, and other causes of pain. We use PEMF to increase energy, accelerating the healing process. This cutting edge technology is safe, comfortable and effective and has only recently been made available to the general public. There are thousands of published scientific research articles establishing the benefits of PEMF. We see the best results in sports injuries and in cases of chronic aches/pains/weakness/soreness. Many patients around the country attest to using PEMF as a supplement to aid with a conditioning regimen, as it relieves soreness, joint aches, and increases recovery time.
